Mr. Linear Compressor Petit-Com Review

Additional things required:

Mr. Air Regulator w/Hose
Spiral Air Hose (by Wave)
Of course your airbrush is required.
Depending on your country, a power converter is required.

Setup:
Setup up is pretty straight forward. When I first setup it up with Mr. Air Regulator, there's no pressure to the airbrush even when I double checked the hose configuration and went on to use it without! And I regretted it as the water vapor got mixed with my paint and starts splattering on my working piece... On second attempt to use the Regulator, I realised that the lid is not tighten sufficiently.  So, make sure that Mr. Air Regulator has its hose setup correctly and its lid and hose are tighten sufficiently.

Usage:

Very simple. Start the compressor, adjust the airbrush to the correct mix of air and paint and you are ready to airbrush. Just remember not to spray it continuously for 30 mins. Somehow, you will notice a drop of pressure when you spray for too long. Just ease of the airbrush trigger for a few seconds and start again. It works for me all the time.

Conclusion:

Pros:
1) Extremely small size to fit anywhere in a very small working space
2) So quiet that you can airbrush all night long in a very quiet neighborhood.
3) No messy air releases or oil leaks when compared against piston compressors.
4) Pretty cool after long usage. It does not heat up as I thought it would be due to its size. (Note: I have placed it in a ventilated place during usage.)

Cons:
1) Not cheap.
2) Cannot use this continuously for 30 minutes as stated on the box.
3) Pressure is weak (but sufficient for all my builds so far. Just remember to use only 1.5m hose!!)
4) Substantial amount of water after using it for 1-2hours. (must use it with Mr. Air Regulator w/Hose)

Normally I would leave such reviews to the experts. But in my opinion, this is just too good to pass on without praises. So... yes. This is good stuff from the land of the rising sun.

    1. Depends on what you intend to use it for and the climate you are using in.

In a tropical country where I used it, the moisture is high. So you may want to consider getting a better water trap like the one from WAVE.

If you are using it for Gunpla or any model kit you are fine. Just take note that you should not use it continuously (spraying the airbrush and hold the trigger) for 30 mins. And do note on the voltage!

      Enjoy!

    2. Hi i live in a country where humidity is at 80-90%. Would you recommend this ? Or go for the L5 (it is 150-200$) more.

  5. Hi,

It really depends on your budget and how you plan to use your compressor.

But since your humidity is high, I definitely recommend you buy this:

Check out my review on the L7. From my research on L5 on the internet, L7 is alot more quieter than L5. Hence, I bought L7.

Post on my Facebook if you have more questions.

  7. Hi,

I live in the US, which kind of power converter would I need?

    1. You just need to make sure you use a 100v. Probably a step down transformer.

  9. Hi, I am just curious with the thread for the regulator and the air hose. The air hose is a standard 1/8" thread but the regulator seems to have a smaller thread. Did you have to buy an adapter for it? Care to share which adapter you bought? Thank you

    1. It comes with the adaptor.
Just make sure you don't get a hose longer than 1 meter. It losses its power.
